John Riordan

John Riordan is Chairman of Quintas Capital and is based in Cork. He retired as Director of Support for Shopify in 2021, having also served as Chairman of Shopify International Ltd. In his 5 years at Shopify, John led a variety of different customer support teams, including groups in Ireland, Lithuania, Sweden, Canada as well as the Philippines, Japan and China. The majority of John’s teams worked from home, a business model he has been an evangelist for over the last 25 years in the US, UK and Ireland.

John is also Chairman of Grow Remote and serves on the board of the Sanctuary Runners, the IRFU Commercial & Marketing Committee, as well as being on the board of a number of start-ups.

John has a B.Comm from University College Cork (UCC) and a Masters of Business Studies from University College Dublin (UCD). John spent much of his career in the US - working for Apple, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Arise Virtual Solutions and US Airways, returning to Ireland in 2010 to head up the Apple Online Store Sales and Service teams.

With a keen interest and involvement in the start-up ecosystem, coupled with a number of early stage investments, John has a deep insight into the opportunities that  investors are looking for - be it a passive investment, or an active investment with the opportunity to share some domain expertise.
